Clark Wood are currently recruiting for an experienced Accounts & Audit Manager to join a highly regarded independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in Northallerton.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant looking to progress their career within a successful accountancy practice. The role would suit an experienced Audit Manager, Accounts Manager, Client Manager or Senior Audit & Accounts professional who is looking for a varied role with strong client exposure and genuine progression opportunities.

Working with a diverse portfolio of clients including owner-managed businesses (OMBs), SMEs, charities and corporate clients, you will take responsibility for managing audit assignments, reviewing accounts work and providing a high level of client service.

As an Accounts & Audit Manager, you will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of audit and accounts clients, ensuring assignments are completed efficiently, accurately and in line with professional standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of audit and accounts clients, including owner-managed businesses, SMEs, charities and limited companies.
• Planning, managing and reviewing statutory audit assignments from initial planning through to completion.
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and accounting standards.
• Reviewing corporation tax computations and working alongside the firm's tax specialists.
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing proactive accounting advice and building long-term relationships.
• Managing client deadlines, budgets and workflow across multiple assignments.
• Reviewing work completed by Audit Seniors, Accounts Seniors, Semi Seniors and trainees.
• Supporting, mentoring and developing junior members of the team.
• Identifying opportunities to improve client services and support the continued growth of the practice.
• Working closely with Partners on client management and business development opportunities.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
• Experience managing audit assignments and reviewing statutory accounts.
• Strong technical knowledge of audit, accounts preparation and UK accounting standards.
• Experience managing client relationships and overseeing junior team members.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide commercial advice to clients.
