Job Description 3 months contract Role with a local authority Summary- The Technical Manager is a pivotal role within a local authority, responsible for overseeing the technical design and engineering aspects of residential developments from land acquisition to completion. This position ensures that all technical information is meticulously coordinated, compliant with relevant regulations, and delivered promptly to facilitate planning approvals, procurement, construction activities, and final customer handover.
- Manage the technical design process across multiple residential developments.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, surveyors, and specialist consultants.
- Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and design outputs.
- Ensure all designs are buildable, compliant, and cost-effective.
- Monitor and manage design programmes to meet key project milestones.
- Experience in a Technical Manager or Senior Technical Coordinator role within a UK residential house building environment.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, planning legislation, highways, drainage, and utilities.
- Experience leading and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., CIOB, ICE, RICS, CABE).
- Working hours:
37 hours per week. - The role is office-based at County Hall in Northallerton, with visits to development sites as required across North Yorkshire.
- Full-time hours (37) or part-time hours will be considered.
- The role is expected to last for 3 months, with the potential to be extended to 6 months.
