North Yorkshire Police is looking for a highly organised and detail-focused PNC Records Officer to join our Criminal Justice Department.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in updating and maintaining the integrity of information held on the Police National Computer (PNC), ensuring that criminal records and associated data are recorded accurately and within nationally prescribed timescales. Your work will directly support the criminal justice system, operational policing, and public confidence in the accuracy of policing records.

Key responsibilities- Accurate updating and maintenance of criminal records on the Police National Computer (PNC), recording arrests and convictions in line with national standards and key performance targets.
- Reviewing, analysing and reconciling information received from HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS), internal police systems and other criminal justice partners.
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of records.
- Managing complex and problematic cases independently, liaising with colleagues, partner agencies and other police forces where necessary.
- Maintaining associated local systems to support effective record management and auditing requirements.
- Providing advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on national recording requirements, procedures and system functionality.
- Conducting data quality reviews and supporting corrective action where inaccuracies are identified.
- Supporting the conversion of historical records into electronic formats.
- Sharing specialist knowledge and assisting in the development of colleagues within the team.
- Excellent IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience or understanding of accurate data input and record management processes.
- Outstanding attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to assess information from multiple sources and determine appropriate actions.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Confidence in making decisions within defined procedures and guidelines.
- PNC Offence Processing experience.
- Experience handling sensitive personal information.
- Knowledge of criminal justice processes.
