Your Skills & Responsiblities
To create schemes and layouts, detail design of components and systems, with consideration for manufacturing and assembly requirements.
Duties
- To conduct feasibility studies, design engine components, systems and vehicle installations
- To carry out value analysis/value engineering programmes
- To create design drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- To present to clients in relation to the design work
- To liaise with program suppliers, internal and external customers
- To work together with other engineers in the business
- To supervise less experienced staff
- To monitor progress of the allocated tasks
Qualifications
- A Degree in Engineering, or HND with relevant experience
- Professional qualifications as appropriate
- Membership of a professional body is desirible
Your Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience in the field of engine component and system design
- It is desirable to have experience in one of the major CAD systems used in automotive design (CREO, Catia or NX)
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals
- Numerical and analytical skills
- Familiarisation with Instrumentation techniques and hardware would be an advantage
- Understanding of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), DVP (Design verification plans) and problem solving techniques
- Knowledge of working to quality procedures and systems
- Report writing skills
- Able to supervise the work of others
- German language skills, advantageous not essential
- Take ownership and enjoy resolving problems
- Be adaptable, creative and enthusiastic
- Ability to work on own and as part of a team
- Confidence to communicate effectively at all levels
- Must be self motivated and the possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to customer sites for both long and short durations (including secondments)
