Medical Laboratory Scientist – Chemistry Lab
Cooley Dickinson Hospital invites applicants for a full-time, day‑shift Medical Laboratory Scientist II in the Chemistry section. This onsite position (30 Locust St., Northampton, MA) requires 37.5 hours per week.
Job Summary
The MLS II performs and oversees complex testing and analyses used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Responsibilities include assisting with method validations, inventory management, QC review, staff training, and functioning as Testing Personnel and, when assigned, as General Supervisor as defined by CLIA regulations.
Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Sciences;
Certificate/Diploma in Clinical Laboratory Sciences. - Preferred:
Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification. - Experience:
1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience;
Chemistry section experience strongly preferred. - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: proficient in laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, repair, and analytical techniques; able to work independently and in a fast‑paced environment; strong attention to detail and adherence to SOPs; proactive problem identification; effective team player and communicator; working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Willingness to assist with inventory control, implementation of new QC materials, method validations, instrument verification.
