About the Role Nigel Wright are delighted to be supporting a well-established and respected professional services firm in the North West with the appointment of an Assistant Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative finance team, offering broad exposure across client accounts and the opportunity to develop technical skills within a structured environment.

Key Responsibilities Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies Completing and submitting VAT returns accurately and within required deadlines Preparing personal tax returns (SA100), ensuring accurate calculation of liabilities Producing corporation tax computations and CT600 returns in line with HMRC requirements Acting as a key point of contact for clients, gathering information and responding to queries in a timely and professional manner Supporting audit assignments, including participation in fieldwork and assisting senior team members Maintaining accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records using cloud-based accounting systems Identifying potential tax and accounting planning opportunities and raising these with senior colleagues Providing guidance and support to junior team members, contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture Candidate Profile Previous experience in a finance or accounting role AAT qualification (or actively studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA) Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy Good working knowledge of Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Sage, Xero) Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach What’s on Offer Competitive salary based on experience Study support and professional development opportunities Clear progression pathway within the business Friendly and supportive team environment Hybrid working Exposure to a varied workload within a reputable organisation
