Job Title: Accounts Payable Assistant

Location: Northampton

Job Type: Full-time | Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm

Holiday: 23 days per year plus Bank Holidays

Remote Working: 1 day per week from home

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join our finance team. This is a key role supporting the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments across the business.

You’ll work closely with both internal teams and external suppliers, ensuring a high standard of service and maintaining strong financial control.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high volumes of purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries in a timely manner
• Support payment runs and ensure deadlines are consistently met
• Assist with month-end closing tasks and financial reporting
• Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure smooth operations
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with company policy

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills and time management
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Reliable, punctual, and able to prioritise effectively
• Eligible to work in the UK
• Experience working in a fast-paced finance team
• Familiarity with finance systems or ERP platforms
