Job Description & How to Apply Below

Great Personal Assistants keep organisations moving. They create structure, provide dependable support and ensure leaders have everything they need to focus on delivering results.

We're looking for a highly organised and professional Personal Assistant to join the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority, providing confidential and efficient support to two Assistant Directors and helping them deliver. You will play a vital role in ensuring day‑day business runs smoothly enabling senior leaders to remain focused on delivering the priorities that matter for communities across the North East.

The Role

As a Personal Assistant, you'll provide high-quality business support that helps senior leaders manage their time, commitments and responsibilities effectively.

You’ll work closely with your designated Assistant Directors, coordinating diaries, preparing them for and supporting them in meetings, action tracking and other general administrative processes while acting as a key point of contact for colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

This is a varied and visible role where organisation, discretion, attention to detail and calm prioritisation will make a real difference every day.

You’ll be part of the wider Executive Support Team, reporting to an Executive Assistant, contributing to a responsive, collaborative and professional support service across the organisation.

About You

You’ll be someone who is naturally organised, calm under pressure and confident keeping things moving when priorities change.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience providing personal assistant, administrative or business support to senior managers.
  • Can confidently manage diaries, meetings, correspondence and competing priorities.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
  • Handles confidential and sensitive information with discretion and good judgement.
  • Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate work.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools including Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Can work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
  • Is proactive, flexible and customer-focused, with a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
What It Isn't

This isn't a role where you'll simply wait for tasks to be passed on. While diary management, meetings and correspondence are an important part of the role, success comes from being organised, proactive and dependable, ensuring that information, actions and priorities are coordinated effectively.

Working closely with the Executive Assistant, you will be the person who helps things run smoothly behind the scenes, keeping leaders organised, meetings well managed and administrative processes on track.

It's a role for someone who takes pride in getting the detail right, providing excellent service and helping others work effectively.

So if you...

Enjoy bringing order to busy schedules, have excellent attention to detail, take pride in delivering outstanding support and enjoy helping others stay organised and focused, we'd love to hear from you.

Join us and play an important role in helping the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority make it happen for the people and places we serve.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under‑represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

If this sounds like the kind of role where you could make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

If you would like an informal discussion, or further information about this role please contact Gavin Armstrong Executive Support Manager gavin.a

Closing date for applications: 13th September 2026 at 23:59.
