The Role
CYBERSIGNS is looking for an experienced Signage Graphic Designer / Artworker to join our growing team in Northampton.
We are specifically looking for somebody who understands the difference between simply creating good-looking artwork and creating artwork that can actually be manufactured, printed, cut, wrapped and installed.
You’ll work across a wide variety of projects including corporate signage, vehicle graphics, window graphics, wall graphics, large-format print, displays and bespoke branding projects.
This is a hands-on studio position where you’ll be involved from the initial customer brief and design concept through to producing accurate, production-ready artwork.
What you’ll be doingYour responsibilities will include:
- Creating signage and graphics concepts from customer briefs
- Designing vehicle liveries and vehicle graphics
- Producing visuals and presentations for customer approval
- Preparing accurate production-ready artwork
- Setting up artwork for large-format digital print
- Setting up cut-vinyl and plotted graphics
- Creating window graphics, manifestation and wall graphics
- Designing fascias, trays, panels, built-up lettering and other commercial signage
- Working accurately to dimensions, surveys, drawings and supplied templates
- Scaling artwork correctly for large-format production
- Colour management and preparing print-ready files
- Checking resolution, bleed, cut paths, fonts and artwork before production
- Working with our production team to determine how designs will actually be manufactured
- Making customer amendments efficiently
- Managing multiple live jobs and deadlines
- Maintaining customer brand guidelines and consistency
- Preparing files for our Mimaki large-format print equipment and production workflow
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is essential.
Experience with Adobe Photoshop and other relevant Adobe Creative Cloud software would be advantageous.
Most importantly, we want somebody who understands signage and large-format graphics production.
Previous experience creating artwork for some or all of the following would be particularly valuable:- Vehicle graphics
- Signage
- Large-format print
- Vinyl graphics
- Window graphics
- Wall graphics
- Exhibition/display graphics
- Corporate branding
You may currently be working as a:
Signage Graphic Designer / Signage Artworker / Large-Format Artworker / Pre-Press Artworker / Sign Studio Designer / Vehicle Graphics Designer
We’re looking for someone who is creative but also technically minded and accurate.
You need to understand that a great signage designer doesn’t just make something look good on screen - you need to think about how it’s going to be printed, manufactured and fitted in the real world.
An understanding of vinyl, substrates, print processes and sign construction would therefore be a significant advantage.

- Takes ownership of their work
- Spots potential production problems before they reach the workshop
- Is comfortable working in a busy commercial environment
We want someone who can be given a brief and take it from concept through to approved, production-ready artwork.
Salary & package£28,000–£35,000 per annum + overtime
Salary will depend upon experience and capability.
Someone coming from another sign or large-format graphics company who can immediately take responsibility for customer visuals, artwork, pre-press and production files would command the upper end of the range.
