Position: Salaried GP

We are seeking a quality driven and motivated GP to join our friendly, busy Northampton practice for 6 sessions per week
.

We are a large training practice with a list size of approximately 12,000 patients
, supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including an experienced Nursing team, Clinical Pharmacists, the ARRS team, and a wide range of additional staff.

The postholder will manage their own caseload and deliver high quality clinical care across a broad range of primary care presentations, ensuring safe, effective, and patient centred care.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide a full range of GP clinical services, including facetoface, telephone and online consultations, home visits, duty doctor work, and management of clinical correspondence.
  • Manage an individual caseload and make autonomous clinical decisions for patients presenting with undifferentiated conditions.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients with acute and longterm conditions, including screening for risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop personalised care plans in line with current clinical guidance and practice protocols.
  • Provide health promotion, disease prevention advice, and patient education.
  • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and other community services.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and contribute to data collection for audit and quality improvement.
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in line with local and national prescribing guidance.
  • Participate in QOF, IIF and other nationally or locally commissioned services.
  • Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team and contribute to practice meetings, training, and service development.
  • Uphold confidentiality, safeguarding, infection control, and health and safety standards.
  • Engage in continuing professional development, annual appraisal and ongoing performance review
  • Contribute to audits, clinical governance and the continuous improvement of patient care.

  • Review and action clinical correspondence, pathology results and medication requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Make autonomous clinical decisions when assessing, diagnosing and managing patients with undifferentiated and complex conditions.
  • Assess health needs, identify risk factors and early signs of illness, and develop personalised care plans in line with current clinical guidelines.
  • Offer health education, lifestyle advice and disease prevention support.
  • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care, community teams and other healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in line with professional standards.
  • Issue acute and repeat prescriptions safely, following local and national prescribing protocols.
  • Contribute to QOF, IIF and other locally commissioned services, supporting the practice in achieving high performance.
  • Undertake all duties expected of an NHS GP working within a primary care setting.

Teamwork and Practice Development

  • Work collaboratively with practice colleagues, contributing to a positive and efficient team culture.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, MDT discussions and practicewide planning activities.
  • Support the continued development and improvement of digital consultation systems including online triage.
