Position: Assistant Principal (Inclusion)

About the Role

We are recruiting for an Assistant Principal (Inclusion) to be part of our amazing team. The role includes acting as SENDCo, leading school improvement, managing resources, developing curriculum resources, supporting staff, liaising with parents and agencies, maintaining records, planning learning activities, partnering with the Principal and governance, managing resources, leading staff development, curriculum development, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluating teaching quality, and promoting pastoral care.

Responsibilities
  • Act as SENDCo for the academy, delivering SEND across the school and completing all statutory requirements of this role
  • Play a leading role in the school improvement and school self-evaluation planning process
  • Manage appropriate resources for Special Needs and Learning Support, ensuring they are used efficiently, effectively and safely
  • Develop curriculum resources to provide required levels of support within classroom learning and intervention sessions for students identified as having SEND/vulnerabilities
  • Provide support, challenge, information and development to staff involved in Special Needs, Disability and Learning Support, sustaining motivation and improving learning, including intimate care where necessary
  • Maintain and update Inclusion and Provision maps
  • Ensure staff are kept informed of students’ SEND
  • Plan and deliver continued professional development and support across the school
  • Work with staff to use Student Profiles to set subject‑specific targets that match work to student needs
  • Use data effectively to identify pupils who are seriously underachieving and create and implement action plans to support them
  • Guide staff on choice of appropriate teaching and learning methods for different students
  • Liaise with and inform parents/carers/external agencies about progress and specifics of the SEND provision for their child
  • Maintain accurate, professional and detailed records of meetings and discussions with parents and outside agencies
  • Plan, prepare and deliver specified learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes, modifying and adapting activities as necessary
  • In partnership with the Principal and the Local Governing Body, establish and implement an ambitious vision and ethos for the future of the school
  • Manage school resources in partnership with the Principal
  • Devise, implement and monitor action plans and other policy developments
  • Lead by example to motivate and work with others, and to implement and manage change initiatives
  • Be responsible for the pastoral team, including Family Worker, Learning Mentor and teaching support staff
  • Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people within the school, liaising with external agencies where needed
  • Lead the development and review of all aspects of the curriculum, including planning, recording, reporting, assessment for learning and developing an appropriate curriculum for all pupils
  • Lead the development and delivery of training and support for staff
  • Work with the Principal to raise standards through staff performance management
  • Lead the development and delivery of training and support for staff (duplicate removed)
  • Lead the processes involved in monitoring, evaluating and challenging the quality of teaching and learning throughout the school, including lesson observations to ensure consistency and quality, supporting individual teachers where necessary
