Step into a pivotal leadership role at Edgewood School, where your influence will shape not only practice, but the everyday experiences and futures of young people with complex needs. Edgewood School is a state of the art independent specialist day and residential school for up to 26 children and young people aged 7 to 16. Pupils placed at the school have a range of complexity and need, including:
Autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, speech, language and communication difficulties, and associated challenging behaviour.
As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a central role in both the strategic direction and day-to-day running of this ambitious specialist school, ensuring that high-quality, personalized education is consistently delivered across every classroom.
Working at the heart of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead on key areas of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes, driving a culture of excellence while maintaining a strong focus on individuality and inclusion. You’ll empower staff through coaching, reflection and professional dialogue, building their confidence and expertise in supporting pupils with autism, communication needs and learning difficulties.
This role goes beyond operational leadership; it’s about spotting what works, strengthening it, and addressing challenges with clarity, care and purpose. You will help embed consistency in the school’s highly personalized curriculum, shape systems that enable rather than restrict great practice, and contribute to long-term school improvement priorities.
With a strong emphasis on collaboration, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of education, care and therapy professionals, ensuring that every pupil’s journey is cohesive, meaningful and ambitious. Your leadership will directly impact pupils’ independence, confidence and ability to engage with the world around them.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate and reflective leader who wants to make a tangible difference—someone ready to take ownership, inspire others and help build a school where every individual is supported to thrive.
Free parking, staff discount scheme and employee assistance/wellbeing program.
