Department: Construction

Hours: 37 hours per week. Weekend and evening working may be required when business needs demand.

Salary / Scale: Lecturer Spine
- Band B - £34,492.00 to £41,140.00 per annum.

Aims and Purpose of the Post

To teach students and other client groups to quality standards set by the College in Groundworks and related construction disciplines.

To teach students attending full-time, part-time, and short courses as directed by the Vice Principal and Head of Faculty.

To deliver Groundworks Apprenticeships, Skills Bootcamps, and other competency-based qualifications within a variety of settings, ensuring achievement of agreed performance and quality targets.

To carry out regular workplace visits and site-based reviews to assess competence, progress, and the application of skills within the workplace.

Assessment of student work.

The development of Groundworks and Construction based courses.

Specific Responsibilities
  • To act as a course tutor to full-time and part-time groups with the associated organisation, administration, and monitoring of attendance including the collection of data for course evaluation.
  • To deliver Groundworks training through a range of delivery models, including classroom, workshop, site-based, one-to-one, group delivery, and intensive bootcamp provision.
  • To tutor other students and trainee groups including the maintenance of records of achievement and undertaking placement visits.
  • To liaise effectively with employers, colleagues, and stakeholders to support learner development and promote high standards of Groundworks practice.
  • To counsel students and maintain discipline as required.
  • To participate in the recruitment of students, including attendance at shows and careers conventions.
  • To participate in curriculum development meeting the needs of changing industrial demand and College planning.
  • To participate in demonstrations and practical activities with students and trainees on all courses.
