English Teaching Role in a Secondary Academy A secondary academy in
Northampton is seeking to appoint an English Teacher to join its
department from September. This is a full-time role within a school
that is committed to raising attainment, improving literacy, and
supporting student progress across all key stages. English is a
core subject within the curriculum, with a strong focus on
developing reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. About
the Role You will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4,
and Key Stage 5, delivering lessons in both English Language and
English Literature. Students will study a range of literary texts
including prose, poetry, and drama, alongside non-fiction and
transactional writing. You will prepare students for GCSE and
A-Level English examinations, supporting them in developing exam
technique, analytical writing, and critical interpretation. You
will work collaboratively within the department to ensure
consistency in curriculum delivery and assessment. Key
Responsibilities Teach English across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver
lessons in English Language and Literature Prepare students for
GCSE and A-Level English examinations Assess student work and
provide structured feedback Monitor student progress and maintain
accurate records Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum
development Promote literacy and independent reading Support
intervention and enrichment activities The School Environment This

English Language and Literature Strong classroom management skills
Good organisational and communication skills

Desirable Experience
teaching A-Level English Experience preparing students for GCSE and
A-Level examinations Ability to contribute to literacy or
enrichment programmes
