Are you a passionate and experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant with a background working in SEMH or Alternative Provision Schools, looking for your next exciting opportunity? We are currently recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a thriving secondary school in Chesham, Buckinghamshire as well as surrounding areas. This is a full-time, ongoing position within the school. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant you will be working within small groups as well as 1:1 with secondary school students who have Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs as well as challenging behaviour.
The school promotes positive mental health alongside academic achievement. The school also focuses on developing social skills, independence, self-motivation and respect for others. Responsibilities:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, your role will include:
Work under the direction of teachers to support students 1:1 and in small group settings. Adapt learning materials and activities to meet pupils' needs, often with a focus on behaviour, social and emotional support. Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging behaviour. Build trusting relationships with pupils who may have emotional or behavioural difficulties. Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
