Malcolm Arnold Academy is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to join our vibrant school community.

Key Responsibilities- Committed to the safeguarding and well-being of students and staff in the academy.
- Keep informed of current legislation, statutory and other guidance with regards to KCSIE, data protection and confidentiality.
- Act as a point of contact for safeguarding, welfare, behaviour, and attendance concerns, providing timely, relevant support and advice to safeguard the student.
- Access to a vehicle or other means of transport to support home visits; if you own a vehicle you must hold a valid and full driving licence appropriate to the type of vehicle you drive.
- Attend internal/external safeguarding and attendance meetings as and when required.
- Initiate the completion of Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) referrals.
- Attend multi‑agency meetings and work with external providers and services.
- Identify the well‑being needs of students and staff through regular surveys and feedback and provide well‑being strategies to the Academy community as required and directed by the Assistant Principal.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
Permanent, 37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year
About our AcademyAt Malcolm Arnold we ensure that all teachers can draw on the sources of scholarly authority and the reservoir of thought and practice that have been developed within their specialist subject communities through our Trust‑wide subject communities. This involves engagement for teachers with their wider subject education community through subject associations, subject education journals, and subject‑specific CPD on curriculum development and teaching.
It also entails refreshing and constantly renewing subject knowledge through reading, discussion, contemporary debate, and the development of our own practice as teachers.

- A good standard of education, including GCSEs in Maths and English.
- Experience of working with young people aged 11‑19 in a secondary school.
- Willingness to undertake further work‑related training.
- Good ICT skills (including use of Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Able to support home visits with access to own vehicle.
