Position: Geography Teacher — Ambitious Academy

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time Permanent

Salary: Paid to scale (MPS/UPS)

A growing 11-16 academy on the outskirts of Northampton is seeking a committed Geography Teacher to join its Humanities department. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about the environment and sustainability and who wants to help shape provision in a school that is investing heavily in this area of the curriculum.

The successful candidate will teach Geography across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (AQA) with a focus on developing students geographical skills including fieldwork data analysis and use of GIS software. You will be expected to plan and lead fieldwork opportunities such as river and coastal studies and to contribute to the schools eco-council and broader sustainability initiatives. The role also involves maintaining assessment records contributing to department planning meetings and supporting whole-school environmental projects.

The school serves a growing community on the edge of Northampton and has ambitious plans for curriculum development in Geography over the coming years. Requirements

  • Degree in Geography or a related subject and QTS

  • Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4 Geography

  • Experience planning and leading fieldwork including appropriate risk assessment

  • Confidence using GIS or other geographical data software

  • A proactive approach to contributing to whole-school sustainability initiatives
