Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Queen Eleanor Primary Academy About the Role

As an Apprentice Teaching Assistant, you will work towards developing the skills and knowledge required to support pupils in accessing learning. Under the guidance and supervision of experienced staff, you will assist in classroom activities, support pupils’ learning and wellbeing, and gradually build confidence in delivering support to individuals and small groups.

Apprenticeship Details
  • Hours:

    Monday to Friday - school hours - exact shift time tbc at interview, 32 hours per week
  • Hourly Wage: £8 per hour (first 12 months), then National Minimum Wage
  • Apprenticeship Level: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship
  • Location:

    Queen Eleanor Road, Northampton, Northants, NN4 8NN
  • Expected Duration: 16 months
Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation while supporting the delivery of teaching programmes
  • Support pupils in the classroom and during activities under supervision.
  • Assist individuals and small groups with learning tasks, including literacy, numeracy, and ICT.
  • Help promote inclusion, independence, and confidence among pupils.
  • Develop an understanding of different learning needs, including SEND.
  • Observe and report on pupil progress to the class teacher.
  • Assist with preparing classroom materials and resources for lessons.
  • Help maintain a safe, tidy, and engaging learning environment.
  • Support the display of pupils’ work
  • Assist with simple marking and routine classroom tasks, where appropriate.
  • Support the supervision of pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and transitions.
  • Assist with school trips and activities, working alongside experienced staff.
  • Help with general administrative tasks, such as photocopying, filing, and preparing resources.
  • Attend team meetings and training as part of your professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of staff.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Develop effective communication skills to support pupils appropriately.
  • Work towards a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification, such as Level 3.

Things to Consider
  • This role requires an enhanced DBS check due to the nature of working with children
  • Apprentices are paid for both their work hours and any training associated with the apprenticeship
