We are looking for a class teacher to join our team here at Purple Oaks Academy - this role will be based in Post 16

About the role:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic educator to take the lead in the planning and delivery of our Post 16 curriculum. We'd be really keen to hear from someone experienced in working with young people who have complex communication and interaction needs and may be autistic.

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support students through engaging, active learning experiences which include opportunities to learn in the community and work towards recognised qualifications. The successful candidate will work closely with support staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality sessions that promote communication, independence and regulation as we support our Post 16 students on their journey into adulthood.

This role requires someone who can work independently and as part of a team.

is excited about providing the very best education for students with complex special educational needs and has experience of working with autistic students

is passionate about delivering an aspirational curriculum which is adapted to the needs of individuals and focuses on preparing young people for life after Purple Oaks Academy

is able to collaborate with other members of the team to ensure the very best provision for our young people

can build positive relationships with staff, students and families alike

This role is suitable for both experienced professionals who wish to progress their career and ECTs who want to begin their career in a learning rich environment, both from mainstream and specialist settings.

About us:

Purple Oaks Academy is a thriving special academy in the heart of Northampton. Our purpose-built building opened in January 2018 and currently educates 143 students with a diagnosis of autism and/or Severe Learning Difficulties.

Post 16

has its own satellite building which has plenty of space to develop the life skills that really matter to students that are preparing for adulthood. Students accessing education in the Post 16 building may do so from Year 11 onwards and the curriculum is tailored towards students accessing pre-entry and entry level qualifications where the focus is on functional and life skills.
