We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Northampton. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who is confident taking ownership of complex design projects, mentoring junior engineers, and driving high-quality mechanical solutions.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies using Solid Works.

Produce detailed 3D models, drawings, and BOMs to engineering standards.

Oversee projects from concept through to manufacture, ensuring quality, cost, and timelines are met.

Work closely with manufacturing, production, and external suppliers to ensure designs are practical and optimised for manufacture.

Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to junior members of the design team.

Conduct design reviews, problem-solving, and continuous improvement activities.

Support testing, prototyping, and validation processes.

Requirements:

Strong experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, ideally in a senior or lead role.

Highly proficient in Solid Works (3D modelling, assemblies, and detailed drawings).

Background in designing mechanical machinery, products, or fabricated assemblies.

Excellent understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Strong communication, organisation, and project management skills.

Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, Degree, or equivalent).
