My client is a world-renowned packaging company and is a leading provider of corrugated packaging within the UK and is seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to work with a strong team of maintenance engineers. As part of the team, you will provide planned and reactive maintenance of production lines and plant equipment.

Maintenance Engineer

£47,000 - £57,000

Northampton

Shift Pattern - 4 on 4 off - (6AM - 6PM) & (6PM-6AM) repeated for 7 sets followed by 18 days off.

Responsibilities
  • Read mechanical drawings and diagrams to carry out fault finding, repairs, and installations.
  • Effectively lead, service, and repair machinery equipment & assets.
  • Work on mechanical issues including pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Carry out alignment, stripping, rebuilding, and installation of mechanical components.
  • Commission new machinery, handle breakdowns, and oversee service & installation.
  • Perform basic electrical fault finding and isolation where required.
  • Understand and work safely on production machinery including high-speed equipment.
Essential
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Comfortable with big machinery.
  • Experience in packaging, FMCG, industrial or another manufacturing industry.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
  • Good understanding of pneumatics and/or hydraulics.
  • Basic electrical knowledge (motors, sensors, fault finding) would be advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical background with some electrical experience.
  • Related qualification in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • A HNC, HND, Level 3 or a 1‑2‑year City & Guilds qualification is also welcome.
