Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine integrity management will be key to the role, including assessment of existing assets and contribution to development project works both for upgrades and new build. Responsibilities:
Undertake the role of achieving and ensuring the CHP & CCGT fleet compliance with the requirements of the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) recommendations and standards such as GENSIP recommendation and Industry guidance. Liaison and provision of technical advice with the site maintenance team regarding ongoing Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and other rotating equipment faults, inspections, repairs and planned outages. Liaison and coordination of specialist consultants and OEM’s in assisting technical On site attendance to support the site based mechanical team provide supervision guidance quality inspections, and technical support on rotating equipment inspection and repair work during outage periods.
Authoring and updating of business standards and procedures relating to asset integrity on Steam turbines, Gas Turbines and BOP including condition monitoring standards. Management of Gas and Steam turbine, fuel gas compressors and BOP vibration analysis services & condition-based vibration monitoring contracts on site services. Technical ownership of the continuous improvement cycle for the integrity across the fleet, including investigating equipment failures related to for example vibration.
Technical support for development projects including design review and input into hazard studies, vibration monitoring upgrades and design stage risk assessments. Attendance and active input on specialist technical bodies. Desired skills and experience (We do not expect you to have all of the below) BSc / MSc / MEng degree or equivalent in engineering related topic preferably mechanical engineering. Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration is desirable.
Experienced from previous roles gained on power plant design, construction or preferably operation and maintenance. Focus on gas turbine and steam turbine is required. Detailed knowledge of the standards, codes and methods for Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines, exhaust systems, pressure vessels, pipework, welding and non-destructive testing. Experience in plant technical reviews and development of inspection scopes for plant outages.
Knowledge and experience in management of overspeed testing, trip devices, governor valves, stop valves, and valve tightness. Knowledge of turbine hall fire risk. Understanding of CO2 fire protection, water deluge and spray systems. High temperature rotor management and low temperature rotor management record keeping. Knowledge of last stage blade monitoring highly desirable. Understanding of water and steam reflux management.
