About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Reporting Accountant to join the finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA), or someone actively working towards qualification, to build experience within a collaborative and fast-paced reporting environment.

The role focuses on supporting the delivery of the annual external audit and the preparation of annual reports and accounts, alongside ensuring the timely completion of statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.

Reporting to the Group Reporting Accountant, this role will contribute to the successful delivery of the annual audit process, financial statement preparation for the group, and accurate statutory and regulatory reporting.

The role is based in our Northampton office with hybrid working of three days per week in the office and two days from home available if required.

Key responsibilities
  • Act as a point of contact for external auditors, assisting in the preparation of "Prepared by Client" (PBC) audit deliverables and financial reporting disclosures
  • Support the coordination and timely submission of audit requests, working closely with finance teams across the organisation
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS
    102) and Housing SORP for Registered Providers of Social Housing and other group entities
  • Contribute to the accurate and timely completion of regulatory reporting for organisations such as the Regulator of Social Housing, Homes England, and the Office for National Statistics
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including Tax, FP&A, and Treasury teams
  • Provide support to Transactional Finance and Management Accounts teams outside of peak audit and reporting periods
  • Carry out ad hoc finance and reporting tasks as required
About you
  • Part-qualified ACA or ACCA, or currently studying towards qualification
  • Experience in practice and/or industry
  • Exposure to external audit processes and the preparation of annual reports and accounts
  • Experience working under UK GAAP (FRS
    102) (experience in the property or housing sector is advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a solid accounting foundation
  • Excellent attention to detail and a naturally inquisitive mindset
  • Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Resilient and able to operate in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Proficient in Excel with a proactive, solution-focused approach
