Role Overview

As the leading figure in our Tax department in Northampton, you will play a critical role in shaping and driving our tax strategy. You will be responsible for providing high-quality tax advisory services, managing client relationships, and leading a team of tax professionals. This position requires a deep understanding of UK tax law, extensive experience in tax advisory and compliance, and the ability to deliver strategic tax solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and grow the tax advisory and compliance practice, providing strategic direction and ensuring the delivery of high-quality tax services.
  • Develop and implement innovative tax strategies and solutions to optimise tax positions for our clients.
  • Advise clients on a wide range of tax issues, including tax planning, compliance, M&A, international tax, and transfer pricing.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and identifying opportunities for business development and growth.
  • Opportunity to lead a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with UK tax laws and regulations, keeping abreast of changes in tax legislation and advising clients on the implications.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the firm to deliver comprehensive and integrated services to clients.
Key Skills and Competencies
  • Proven track record of successfully managing client relationships and delivering high-quality tax advisory services.
  • Strong business development skills with a demonstrated ability to identify and capitalise on new business opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a commitment to developing and mentoring junior staff.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-specialists.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic and commercial mindset
Qualifications & Experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in tax advisory roles, with a significant portion spent in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Extensive experience working within a professional services firm or a large tax department.
  • CTA or ACA CTA qualified. ADIT is desirable but not essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation, with experience in advising on complex tax issues.
