Join Barclays as a Relationship Manager working within the South Mid Corporate team. This role supports the UK Mid Corporate Coverage business area of Corporate Banking, focusing on building and managing client relationships, driving business growth, and delivering excellent customer service across Northampton, Glasgow, Manchester, and Sunderland. Regular travel across the North is required.
Responsibilities- Manage, develop, and grow client portfolios while ensuring excellent customer service.
- Identify clients’ financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance through data analysis and relationship insights.
- Research industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
- Design and propose customised solutions that incorporate a range of bank products and services to meet client needs.
- Communicate the value proposition, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms beneficial to both client and bank.
- Provide guidance on financial decisions, risk management, and wealth strategies, updating clients on market trends.
- Assess financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships and implement measures to minimise potential losses.
- Document all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency, auditability, and support product development.
- Monitor client satisfaction and revenue metrics, evaluating the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.
- Advise and influence decision‑making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
- Lead team activities, setting objectives, coaching staff, and managing performance outcomes.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviours (Listen, Energise, Align, Develop) or, as an individual contributor, guide collaborative assignments and mentor peers.
- Consult on complex issues, provide risk mitigation strategies, and develop new policies supporting control and governance.
- Communicate complex information clearly to stakeholders, influencing outcomes and maintaining confidentiality.
- Experience in payments relationship management and strong interpersonal skills.
- Successful track record of negotiating and closing deals to increase business performance.
- Experience managing a portfolio of corporate clients in the B2B financial services sector.
- Knowledge of relevant third‑party suppliers (e.g., technology partners) and key competitors.
- Understanding of risk and controls frameworks, change and transformation initiatives.
- Business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
- Digital and technology proficiency relevant to banking services.
- Knowledge of industry trends and market developments.
