Assistant Accountant

You’ll play a key role in keeping the numbers on track. As an Assistant Accountant
, you’ll turn data into insight, support period-end reporting, forecasting and budgeting, and work closely with operational teams to help drive performance. If you enjoy solving problems, building strong relationships and making a real impact in a fast-paced operation, this could be the perfect next step for you.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity, with 37.5 hours per week contracted. Core hours Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 (with flexibility required for business needs). This is a hybrid opportunity working on site 3 days per week and can either be based in our Northampton (NN4 9BX
) site or Sherburn in Elmet (LS25 6JH
).

We’re looking to offer a salary of £30,000 to £39,000 per annum (dependent on level of experience), and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!

• Bring the numbers to life by delivering weekly reporting packed with clear insights
• Own month-end by producing accurate internal and customer accounts, ensuring smooth processes and reliable P&Ls every time
• Keep us compliant and confident by preparing balance sheets that meet GXO standards and support SOX compliance
• Help shape the future by supporting forecasting, latest view submissions and budget planning for both customers and the business
• Be the go-to finance expert for your sites, partnering with operational managers to provide guidance, challenge thinking and drive better decisions through finance

• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis, with the ability to turn numbers into meaningful insights
• Experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within a fast-paced environment (logistics experience is a bonus!)
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to build relationships and support stakeholders at all levels
• A proactive, can-do attitude, with a natural curiosity to investigate issues, solve problems and drive improvements
• Working towards an accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and committed to developing your finance career
