My client is a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Northampton, supplying high-quality products to customers across the UK and international markets. they are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their leadership team and play a key role in driving financial performance and operational excellence.
The OpportunityReporting directly to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will take full responsibility for the finance function, providing strategic financial insight alongside robust financial control. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with operational teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring high standards of performance and continuous improvement.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, KPIs, and board reports.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes.
- Deliver insightful financial analysis to support commercial and operational decision-making.
- Oversee statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit processes.
- Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and margin performance.
- Drive improvements in financial reporting, controls, and business processes.
- Partner with production, supply chain, and operational management teams to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Lead capital expenditure analysis and investment appraisals.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, insurers, and professional advisers.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller or Finance Manager role.
- Strong manufacturing, engineering, or industrial sector experience.
- Excellent understanding of cost accounting, stock management, and operational finance.
- Commercially aware with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience.
- Hands-on approach with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
