Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Enforcement Investigation Officer to join our team, playing a key role in the assessment and resolution of appeals relating to parking, bus lane, and moving traffic contraventions.
The Enforcement Investigation Officer operates as part of a team responsible for reviewing appeals relating to civil parking, bus lane, and moving traffic contraventions. The role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as a commitment to staying up to date with relevant legislation and regulations.
Responsibilities- Investigate and respond to challenges, representations, and appeals against Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), ensuring responses are accurate and issued within statutory time frames while fully complying with relevant legislation and council policies.
- Represent the Council at Traffic Penalty Tribunal hearings, which may take place by telephone, video, post, or in person. Prepare and submit comprehensive, accurate evidence within strict deadlines, ensuring each case is fully and fairly presented.
- During hearings, make informed, real-time decisions when required by the Adjudicator, including agreeing to case cancellations or accepting reduced payments where appropriate.
- Process permit applications in line with council policy and support essential back-office functions. This includes managing the permit mailbox, conducting ad hoc compliance checks on applications and issued permits to confirm eligibility, and taking appropriate action in cases of permit or Blue Badge misuse.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and regulations.
- Commitment to delivering high standards of customer service and confidence in applying policy and legal frameworks accurately and consistently.
