Position Overview
We are delighted to advertise a Specialist (Band
6) Occupational Therapist position to join the North Edinburgh Older People’s Community Mental Health Team. This is a full‑time, permanent role within a multidisciplinary team that focuses on adults aged 65 and over with diagnosed mental health problems, dementia, or those querying a dementia diagnosis. The role offers flexibility and welcomes interest from candidates considering secondments, job share or other adjustments.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ functional status, rehabilitation needs and environmental factors.
- Plan and deliver therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation programmes to maintain or improve clients’ independence at home.
- Advise and support natural support networks, including family, carers and community partners.
- Provide expert occupational therapy input to the wider clinical team and contribute to the development of best practice within OPMH and EHSCP.
- Maintain up‑to‑date clinical knowledge and record‐keeping in line with NHS Scotland policies.
- Registered occupational therapist with recognized postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
- Current PVG Scheme membership/record; if not a member, must obtain registration with Disclosure Scotland before commencing employment.
- Demonstrated experience in community or older people’s occupational therapy settings, with evidence of working with older adults and dementia.
- Appropriate UK work‑permission and willingness to provide proof of eligibility.
