Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser Northamptonshire | Full Time | 37 Hours Per Week | In-House Occupational Health Service
OH Medical is delighted to be recruiting for a Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser to join a well-established in-house Occupational Health team in Northamptonshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health professional looking to step into a senior leadership role where they can influence service delivery, support team development, and play a key role in shaping workplace health and wellbeing strategies.
Working closely with the Head of Occupational Health, you will provide clinical leadership, manage a multidisciplinary team, oversee complex case management, and contribute to the ongoing development of a high-quality Occupational Health service.
The RoleAs the Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser, you will provide expert Occupational Health advice and support across a diverse workforce while ensuring clinical governance, service quality, and operational excellence.
You will deputise for the Head of Occupational Health when required and act as a key stakeholder in delivering proactive, evidence-based Occupational Health services.
Key Responsibilities- Line manage Occupational Health Nurse Advisers and Occupational Health Technicians.
- Provide clinical leadership, mentoring, coaching and professional support to the wider OH team.
- Manage a complex clinical caseload, delivering Occupational Health assessments and evidence-based recommendations.
- Advise managers, HR teams and employees on sickness absence management, rehabilitation plans, workplace adjustments and fitness for work.
- Assess and triage Occupational Health referrals to ensure effective use of resources.
- Lead on health surveillance programmes and provide specialist advice regarding occupational health hazards and workplace health risks.
- Support the development and implementation of Occupational Health policies, procedures and service improvements.
- Maintain high standards of clinical governance, record keeping and confidentiality in line with GDPR, NMC requirements and relevant legislation.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality assurance activities and service evaluation.
- Produce statistical reports and health data analysis to support organisational wellbeing initiatives.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to promote employee health, wellbeing and workplace safety.
- There may be occasional travel across sites within the county and flexibility to support some evening Occupational Health activities when required.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential Requirements- NMC Registered Nurse
- Current registration on Part 3 of the NMC Register.
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health.
- Minimum 5 years' Occupational Health experience.
- Previous experience working as a Senior Occupational Health Advisor or in a similar leadership role.
- Experience providing Occupational Health and wellbeing advice to managers, HR professionals and senior stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of sickness absence management, workplace adjustments, rehabilitation and health surveillance.
- Experience supervising, mentoring or auditing the work of Occupational Health Nurses, Screening Nurses or Occupational Health Technicians.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of GDPR, medical confidentiality and Occupational Health legislation.
- Experience using Occupational Health management systems and producing reports from health data.
- Experience working within emergency services, blue-light services or highly regulated environments.
- Fitness-for-task medicals experience.
- Experience designing and delivering health promotion or wellbeing programmes.
- Training delivery experience.
