Overview
The Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Northampton invites a registered Speech and Language Therapist (HCPC and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists) to work with senior leadership to develop, validate and lead a brand‑new BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy programme. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape the profession locally and nationally by designing a robust, practice‑focused curriculum that supports the development of a future‑ready, employable workforce.
The university is entering a significant phase of growth with several new health programmes planned to launch from September
2027, creating a collaborative community of course leaders across the wider Allied Health Professions. In this context, the Course Leader will work alongside established and new course leaders, setting the vision, identity and expectations for the programme, and contributing to the region’s and beyond’s professional profile.
- Develop and validate a BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy curriculum, drawing on UK clinical experience.
- Lead the programme’s operational delivery and continuous enhancement.
- Collaborate with other course leaders across Allied Health Professions to share learning and drive collective innovation.
- Engage with key clinical and practice partners to strengthen the programme’s professional relevance.
- Shape a student experience that reflects the values and standards of the profession.
- Provide leadership and support to teaching staff, ensuring a positive student experience.
- Degree qualification or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Professional recognition as an HEA Fellow (D2) or a teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or a willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale.
- Master’s degree in a relevant subject.
- Doctorate in a relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion.
All candidates must provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK during the interview process. The University is open to considering Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, provided the eligibility criteria of the points‑based immigration system are met.
