  • To undertake clinical case management consultations and provide a range of advice and support for workplace adjustments, restrictions, and proactive measures to support health and wellbeing. Undertake face to face and/or remote case management, liaising with the individual, Human Resource (HR), key stakeholders and line management in the delivery of independent specialist OH advice.
  • Assist/promote early identification of health conditions and ensuring effective management, to support early recovery and return to work by liaising and referring into other disciplines and treatment services.
  • Able to autonomously make and justify clinical decisions using problem solving, initiative and judgement. Using evidence-based processes to provide advice to managers in respect of fitness for task, return to full duties, taking into consideration the possible requirement for recuperative duties, rehabilitation, retraining or consideration of adjustments in line with current legislation i.e., Equality Act 2010. Maintaining personal awareness of occupational health research and development to ensure practice is evidence based and current.
  • To assist fellow clinicians within the OH team as required and directed. Supporting the work of the OH technician in the clinical area of the service, during periods of high demand and covering OHT absence. Provide clinical guidance to the OH Technician in the absence of senior OH clinicians.
  • Offer appropriate management/advice following needle stick/human bite injuries.
  • Ensure that confidential medical records are maintained, and reports are written to the relevant standards as defined by relevant governance standards. Have a clear understanding of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Data Protection Act and all legislation in relation to medical confidentiality, including storage, access and transfer of medical records and medical consent. Working within the Code of Professional Conduct of the NMC (National Midwifery Council).
  • Ability to operate computerised record system and software that supports OH processes.
  • Assist in the provision of statistical data / analysis / evaluation of occupational health initiatives to inform future work.
  • Assist in the undertaking of clinical audits, ensuring the required clinical standards are regularly achieved by the OH Service. Undertake occasional research and prepare concise, quality reports on health care issues as directed by the Head of OH.
  • To assist in formulation of occupational health related policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • To act as a representative for OH at meetings and appropriate working parties within the organisation. Working collaboratively with OH, Health & Safety, HR and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain a continuous professional development (CPD) diary, registration and fitness for practice evidence as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • To undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the job.
