Responsibilities

  • Line management responsibility for OH Nurse Advisors, and OH Technician. Providing mentoring support to assist the development of junior staff within the team.
  • Act as a point of contact for other members of the OH team in relation to challenging, complex or sensitive clinical issues arising within the organisation and take appropriate steps, including escalation to senior managers as necessary.
  • Advise and support HR and line managers relating to their role and responsibilities in implementation of health-related recommendations to support employee wellbeing at individual and group meetings.
  • As an autonomous practitioner, manage own clinical case load of complex cases; undertaking appropriate assessment and providing specialist advice and recommendations to line managers, HR, employees, and others as necessary.
  • Assess and triage requests for advice (referrals), ensuring appropriate and efficient use of OH resources and monitoring cases until completion.
  • Lead on clinical advice on the requirements for health surveillance, advising managers of any additional control measures required.
  • Provide specialist advice regarding occupational health hazards/ work-related health risks to key stakeholders.
  • To participate and contribute to monitoring and improvement of quality and service delivery through appropriate activities including clinical audit, reflective supervision, and staff training.
  • To work with the Head of OH on the development of OH policy and clinical procedures. Implementing new OH initiatives and developments in practice to drive OH service delivery improvements.
  • Responsible for the management for the organisations OH record-keeping; confidentiality, standards and information management practices and requirements, ensuring that they comply with industry and legal requirements e.g NMC, GDPR, Equality Act, Access to Medical Records Act and the OH team are aware and compliant with all.
  • Assist in the provision of statistical data/analysis/evaluation of OH initiatives to inform future work.
  • Work in line with NMC professional code of conduct, organisational policy, procedure, and legal requirements. Maintain up to date, accurate, confidential written and computer records on all clinical case contacts.
  • Perform such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
  • As the post holder will be supporting employees and volunteers across the county there may be a degree of travel required to bring certain services, such as fitness for task medicals, OH consultations, to a location convenient for the workforce.
  • The role will require flexibility to work from/visit alternative sites, with a requirement to work approx. one late shift per month (working until early evening) to conduct occupational health activities as required.
