Position: Care Support Assistant (Turn Furlong)

Vacancies Care Support Assistant (Turn Furlong) About The Role

Turn Furlong, based in Kingsthorpe, Northampton, provides an integrated health and social care service for people requiring short-term support following discharge from hospital. The Recovering Independence Bed (RIB) Unit supports individuals to regain their confidence, independence and daily living skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Delivered through a partnership between health and social care professionals, the service provides rehabilitation, reablement, clinical care and care support, helping people achieve the best possible outcomes and return to living as independently as possible.

As part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside senior nurses, staff nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, medical professionals and social care colleagues to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

The focus of the service is rehabilitation and reablement, supporting people who no longer require acute hospital care but would benefit from additional support to recover, build confidence and maximise their independence before returning home or moving to longer-term care arrangements.

What will you be doing?

You will play a key role in supporting people following discharge from hospital. Working alongside health and social care professionals, you will help individuals regain confidence, rebuild daily living skills, and maximise their independence in a safe and supportive environment.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support people with their personal care, mobility, nutrition, wellbeing and rehabilitation goals. Every day is different, and you will work closely with nurses, therapists, social care colleagues and healthcare professionals to deliver person-centred support that enables people to achieve the best possible outcomes.

The service focuses on promoting independence, encouraging recovery and helping people achieve their goals in a welcoming and supportive setting. Through your support, you will make a real difference to people's recovery journeys and help them regain confidence in their everyday lives.

About You

A caring, compassionate and reliable individual who is passionate about supporting people to regain their independence and achieve the best possible outcomes. You'll have a strong understanding of person-centred care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with the people you support, their families and colleagues.

Patience, empathy and respect are essential, alongside the ability to work flexibly, remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing needs. You'll be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, maintaining accurate records, handling information sensitively, and following health, safety and hygiene procedures.

Previous experience within a health, care, rehabilitation or reablement setting would be advantageous, as would an NVQ Level 2 in Social Care (or equivalent qualification).

What You'll Gain

Working within an integrated health and social care environment, you'll gain valuable experience alongside nurses, therapists and other care professionals while developing your skills and confidence in rehabilitation and reablement support. You'll receive training, ongoing support and development opportunities, while being part of a friendly and dedicated team committed to helping people return to living as independently as possible.
