Job summaryA GP Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and visitors attending a medical practice. The role involves providing excellent customer service, managing appointments, handling patient enquiries, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the surgery.

Main duties of the jobKey Responsibilities Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.

Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments.

Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries.

Updating and maintaining patient records accurately.

Processing prescription requests and directing them to the appropriate team.

Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and letters.

Handling confidential patient information in line with GDPR and NHS policies.

Liaising with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Assisting patients with registration and administrative forms.

Managing waiting room flow and ensuring patients receive appropriate assistance.
