Information Technology Operations Manager

I’m working with a really solid professional services business looking for an IT Operations Manager, someone who actually understands what it means to keep a business running, not just close tickets.

If you’re the one who keeps infrastructure solid, teams sharp, and directors calm when things wobble… keep reading.

This is one of those roles where you sit between the tech, the people and the bigger picture. You’ll be leading the IT ops team, looking after infrastructure across on-prem and cloud, and making sure systems are secure, stable and not one update away from chaos.

You’ll still be close enough to the tech to know what’s going on, but senior enough to shape how things are done.

Think:

• Leading an IT Ops team
• Keeping on-prem + cloud infrastructure secure and stable
• Overseeing backups, security, resilience and continuity
• Acting as senior escalation when things get spicy
• Supporting wider digital, IT and innovation projects
• Working with vendors, budgets and reporting

You’ll be comfortable across most of this:

• Microsoft 365
• Windows Server, AD, Power Shell
• SQL Server
• Virtualisation + cloud infrastructure
• Backup, disaster recovery, business continuity
• Cyber & data security

You don’t need to know everything. But you do need to be the grown-up in the room.

This would suit someone who’s led an IT team before, can talk to senior stakeholders without the jargon overload, and still has enough technical depth that engineers respect you. It’s visible, trusted, and a chance to really own operations rather than just inherit problems.
