Job Description
Purpose of the role: to optimise and address Barclays 3rd‑party spend requirements, including the definition, development and implementation of approaches for relevant spend categories and requirements in close collaboration with the business and execution of strategic sourcing and buying channel development/optimisation.
Responsibilities- Profile spend in category areas and develop an understanding of business strategy, requirements, cost levers and opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, develop requests for proposal and ensure sourcing activities align to the bank’s needs and priorities.
- Plan and execute sourcing events including RFP/RFXs, negotiate to meet business requirements for value, speed, compliance and risk.
- Monitor and guide controls and compliance requirements throughout the sourcing cycle, including regulatory engagement, audits and data quality.
- Develop, implement and operate policies and procedures for sourcing activities aligned to company policies, standards, compliance and regulation.
- Identify and deliver change opportunities to improve effectiveness, control and efficiency of sourcing processes, including buying channel optimisation for relevant categories.
- Identify industry trends, attend conferences, participate in training and conduct market research on sourcing techniques and tools.
- Contribute to strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change.
- Plan resources, budgets and policies; manage and maintain processes; deliver continuous improvements and raise policy breaches.
- If leading a team: define jobs and responsibilities, plan the department’s future needs, counsel employees on performance and contribute to pay decisions; influence department operations while balancing short‑ and long‑term goals and ensuring budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
- Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross‑functional areas of impact and alignment.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, compare and select complex alternatives, and adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem‑solving processes.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
