Raw Materials Planner - 11 Month FTC

Northampton
30,000- 32,000
11-month fixed-term contract, maternity cover
Hybrid working, with 3 days per week in the office

The Opportunity

We're supporting a well-established food manufacturer in Northampton with the appointment of a Raw Materials Planner on an 11-month fixed-term contract.

This is a hands-on planning role focused on ingredients and road freight. You'll be helping to ensure raw materials are available when needed, supplier deliveries are managed properly, purchase orders are accurate, and any risks to supply are picked up early.

It would suit someone who enjoys a busy, operational planning environment where attention to detail, communication and follow-up really matter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review demand, stock levels and material availability in line with production requirements.

  • Raise purchase orders, send supplier forecasts and expedite deliveries where needed.

  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules and manage any changes or delays.

  • Work closely with Warehouse, Production Planning and Procurement teams to keep inbound supply aligned.

  • Maintain accurate order and delivery information in SAP.

  • Track open purchase orders and follow up on overdue, at-risk or problem deliveries.

  • Help resolve issues around shortages, over-deliveries, non-conformances and invoice discrepancies.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have experience in materials planning, supply chain, purchasing support, procurement administration or another role where you're used to managing high volumes of orders, suppliers, delivery dates and changing priorities.

Food industry experience is not required. The priority is someone who is organised, accurate, confident chasing information, and comfortable working in a busy environment where order volumes, supplier follow-up and system accuracy really matter.

Experience using ERP systems would be useful, with SAP or SAGE experience particularly relevant.

Why Join?

This is a good opportunity to join a respected food manufacturer in a role that has a direct impact on factory performance and material availability.

You'll be part of a practical, collaborative supply chain and procurement environment, with clear ownership of supplier follow-up, inbound delivery coordination and system accuracy.

The role offers hybrid working, with 3 days per week in the Northampton office, including Wednesday as the anchor day. There is also flexibility around start time, with options around 8:00am, 8:30am or 9:00am.

If you're interested in learning more, we'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.
