Domestic Assistant position at Berrywood Hospital, Northampton. Closing date is 25 May 2026.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable person to join our cleaning team. Your duties will include general cleaning of patient, public and staff areas as directed by your allocated cleaning schedule. You will be required to work to the NHS National Cleaning Specifications and maintain standards set by the NHS National Cleaning Specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a high quality domestic service that supports patient care and adheres to legislation and policies.
  • Follow cleaning specifications and use appropriate equipment and materials.
  • Work closely with other staff to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.
  • Carry out floor maintenance (mopping, display wet‑floor warning cones) and shampoo carpets and corridor mats on a systematic basis.
  • Remove waste and clinical waste bags with proper bags and procedures.
  • Use chemicals and cleaning agents in accordance with manufacturers' instructions; use only chemicals supplied by the Trust and store under lock and key in accordance with COSHH regulations.
  • Use machinery safely as per instructions and training.
  • Undertake deep cleans, clinical cleans, admission and infection cleans as required by infection control procedure, including removal, laundering and hanging of curtains.
  • Observe the colour‑coded cleaning system used within wards, health centres and departments.
  • Wear protective clothing and uniform supplied by the Trust, maintaining a neat appearance and high personal hygiene standards.
  • Complete Trust mandatory training timely; attend meetings, one‑to‑one and appraisal meetings; keep self‑informed on Trust matters.
Work Hours

25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 14:00–19:00. Shift pattern subject to change.
