Workshop Foreman - Construction Plant

Location: Wellingborough |
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum + Company Vehicle

Role Summary

As Workshop Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day running of the workshop in Wellingborough, ensuring all plant equipment is maintained, serviced, and prepared to the highest standard. This is a hands‑on leadership role, combining technical expertise with team supervision. You will manage workshop engineers, allocate workloads, maintain health & safety standards, and ensure equipment is ready for hire and customer delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of workshop plant fitters and engineers.
  • Allocate daily workloads and manage job progress within the workshop.
  • Oversee servicing, inspections, and repairs on construction plant equipment.
  • Ensure all machines meet safety and compliance standards before release.
  • Support with complex diagnostics and technical problem‑solving when required.
  • Manage workshop efficiency, parts usage, and job documentation.
  • Maintain high health & safety standards across the depot.
  • Liaise with management, hire desk, and parts departments to ensure smooth operations.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience working on construction plant equipment (excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, rollers, etc.).
  • Previous supervisory or senior fitter experience within a workshop environment.
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to lead from the front and motivate a team.
  • Organised, proactive, and capable of managing workshop workflow.
  • Full UK driving licence.
