We are looking for a passionate, motivated, and experienced Team Manager who is looking for a new challenge to join the Hubs leadership team and be part of our future. You will play an instrumental part in the fast-paced environment of the Hub, managing and leading our Hub teams to build trusted relationships and delivering a world class automated operation with the capability to process 40,000 parcels an hour.

This is a role where you can take control and make a difference. During the night shift, employees and engineers will look to you to lead the way. You'll motivate them to achieve their best every day and work with them over time to help them develop and reach their potential. It'll be up to you to help the team to meet a range of operational targets, each one critical to improving our offering to customers, saving them money on a fast, high-quality service.
The Team Manager is responsible for daily work plan clearance to achieve performance and budgetary targets through participation, motivation, and cross functional workings and in-flight decision making. It is vital as a Team Manager to create and support the environment in which trust between colleagues both frontline and managerial, underpins our focus to achieve excellence. This role must have the ability to provide systematic and organised approach to day-to-day operation clearance.
Furthermore, the role will be responsible for pursuing achievement of safety, quality, financial, customer, automation, and employee targets and objectives.
The Team Manager is responsible for first line HR processes, such as Conduct and Attendance, Engagement, Performance, and more, and for measurement and display of key metrics for the work area, and the analysis, and continuous improvement of them. You will be managing up to 50 staff in your work area, requiring management of complex systems, and also matrix management of additional staff across the unit.
Other responsibilities include:
- Managing the movement of mail on a structured workplan, such as arrivals to dispatches.
- Ensuring quality of service for long distance mail, critical time trailers, and demanding containers, requiring a high level of focus.
- Engage and coordinating a team of people, driving performance, and identifying improvement.
- Supervising manual operations of containers and other systems.

What skills and experience are we looking for?To be truly successful in this role, you'll possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- A persuasive leader with drive and a well-developed ability to identify and resolve problems to a high standard through team engagement and building trust.
- Able to work under pressure in an automated environment, reacting to operational issues as they occur through team-working and problem solving with others.
- Knowledge of automated environment and parcel site benefits, Flow Room and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), mech performance metrics and the role of engineering in effective automation performance.
- Managing diverse teams in a Unionised environment, and the ability to influence and challenge in a positive style.
- Desirably, knowledge or experience of an automated environment.
