The Role Working closely with the Area Branch Manager, you will take joint responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the branch. You will play a hands-on role in managing operations, supervising staff, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal procedures. In the absence of the Area Branch Manager, you will take full operational responsibility for the branch.
Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day branch operations, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency Act as Line Manager for Personal Bankers and Cashiers, driving performance and productivity Supervise cash operations, including control and authorisation of transactions Maintain joint custody of cash, security items, and branch keys, ensuring adherence to control procedures Ensure full compliance with AML, KYC, and UK banking regulations Authorise transactions and monitor account activity in line with delegated authority Oversee account opening/closing processes and maintain accurate documentation Manage loan administration, including documentation, monitoring, and file maintenance Support the preparation and assessment of credit proposals and lending decisions Handle customer queries and complaints, ensuring excellent service standards Conduct reconciliations of internal and external accounts Support branch audits, controls, and reporting requirements Ensure smooth coordination with internal departments including Operations, Compliance, and Head Office Maintain high standards of branch presentation, security, and data protection About You Strong experience in retail banking operations Good understanding of AML, KYC, and risk controls within UK banking Proven ability to manage and lead a small team Experience in cash management, account operations, and branch controls Knowledge of loan processing and credit documentation Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach Ability to work independently and take ownership of branch operations What's on Offer Salary of £38,000 per annum Opportunity to step into a key leadership role within branch operations Exposure to a broad range of banking functions including operations, compliance, and lending Stable, full-time position based fully onsite in Manchester
