Import Customs Supervisor
Location:
Northampton (with hybrid working available after probation)
Hours:
12:00 - 21:00 (PM shift) Monday to Friday (Occasional weekends)
Salary: 30,000 - 34,000 Per Annum
Our client is a global logistics and supply chain management company, integrating road, air and sea transport services. They have an exciting opportunity for an Import Customs Supervisor to join the team on a full time, permanent basis!
The successful candidate will oversee and support the import customs operation during the PM shift and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, compliant and timely processing of import customs entries, while leading and supporting a small operational team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong supervisor with people management experience to step into a role where full customs training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise the daily import customs workflow during the PM shift
Ensure all import declarations are processed accurately and within required time frames
Monitor workload distribution and prioritise urgent shipments
Support and develop team members through coaching and on-the-job guidance
Act as the escalation point for import-related queries and issues
Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders (e.g. carriers, brokers, HMRC processes)
Ensure compliance with customs regulations and company procedures (training provided)
Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with audit requirements
Support continuous improvement of import processes and efficiency
About You
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is essential
Experience working within a logistics/transport environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Confident decision-maker with the ability to manage priorities under pressure
Highly organised with attention to detail
Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment
Customs experience is beneficial but not essential (training provided)
