Aboutthe Role
As a Shift Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring maximum availability and reliability of production equipment across a modern manufacturing facility. Working within a highly automated environment, you will support operational performance through reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance strategies, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment reliability projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure maximum equipment reliability through:
- Rapid response to breakdowns
- Effective fault diagnosis and repairs
- Preventative maintenance strategies
Maintain compliance with:
- Health & Safety procedures
- Environmental & Quality standards
- LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out)
- Permit to Work systems
- Statutory requirements
Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies including:
- TPM
- RCM
- RCA
- PDCA
- 5S
- Lead and contribute to reliability and efficiency improvement projects
- Collaborate closely with Operations teams to support a high-performance manufacturing culture
- Maintain accurate maintenance records within CMMS/SAP systems
- Support engineering and capital investment projects to ensure delivery within:
- Budget
- Quality standards
- Project timelines
- Minimum BTEC/NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline
- Strong multi‑skilled engineering background with an electrical bias
- Experience with in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong fault‑finding and root cause analysis skills
- Good IT literacy including MS Office and maintenance systems
- Experience with in FMCG, Food, Beverage, or high‑speed manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to manage contractors and issue permits safely
- Strong understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to support and train colleagues
