A leading packaging manufacturer in Northampton is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their established engineering team due to continued growth and investment across the site.

THE ROLEAs a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of production and packaging machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production equipment
- Respond to breakdowns in a timely and effective manner
- Fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems
- Work with PLC-controlled machinery (fault diagnosis, not necessarily programming)
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company standards
- Multi‑skilled maintenance background (electrical and mechanical)
- Experience with in manufacturing or packaging environments
- Strong fault‑finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and motors
- PLC fault‑finding experience (Siemens / Allen Bradley desirable)
- Ability to work independently on shift and respond to breakdowns effectively
- Apprenticeship trained or relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
Currently working a Double Days shift pattern (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00), with a planned transition to a 3‑shift rota by the end of the year.
