The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cnc Turner Setter Operator to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, proving out and optimising CNC lathes, ensuring machines are correctly prepared and running efficiently to manufacture high-quality, precision-engineered components.
The role will involve machine setup, tooling changes, offset adjustments and process control, alongside supporting operators during production runs. You will also be responsible for carrying out in-process quality checks and responding to any production or quality issues to minimise downtime and scrap.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with a strong background in CNC turning and machine setting who takes pride in producing accurate, high‑quality components.
Key Responsibilities- Set and prepare CNC turning machinery for production.
- Carry out tooling changes, tool setting and offset adjustments.
- Read and work from engineering drawings and production documentation.
- Ensure machines are correctly set and producing components to specification.
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments where required.
- Carry out dimensional checks using standard inspection equipment.
- Identify tooling, machine or process issues and take appropriate action.
- Support production operators with technical and setting requirements.
- Replace tooling when required and maintain consistent machining performance.
- Help maintain production efficiency and minimise machine downtime.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
- Complete relevant production and quality records.
- Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve issues.
- Follow company procedures and all relevant health & safety requirements..
- Previous experience as a CNC Lathe Setter / CNC Turner / CNC Setter Operator.
- Strong experience setting CNC turning machinery.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience setting tooling, offsets and work holding.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment for in‑process inspection.
- A good understanding of machining processes, tooling and cutting conditions.
- The ability to identify and resolve basic production and quality issues.
- A strong focus on quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of health & safety within a manufacturing environment.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
£18.00 - £20.00 per hour (£36,500- £40,500)
4 day working week
