The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cnc Turner Setter Operator to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, proving out and optimising CNC lathes, ensuring machines are correctly prepared and running efficiently to manufacture high-quality, precision-engineered components.

The role will involve machine setup, tooling changes, offset adjustments and process control, alongside supporting operators during production runs. You will also be responsible for carrying out in-process quality checks and responding to any production or quality issues to minimise downtime and scrap.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with a strong background in CNC turning and machine setting who takes pride in producing accurate, high‑quality components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and prepare CNC turning machinery for production.
  • Carry out tooling changes, tool setting and offset adjustments.
  • Read and work from engineering drawings and production documentation.
  • Ensure machines are correctly set and producing components to specification.
  • Monitor machining processes and make adjustments where required.
  • Carry out dimensional checks using standard inspection equipment.
  • Identify tooling, machine or process issues and take appropriate action.
  • Support production operators with technical and setting requirements.
  • Replace tooling when required and maintain consistent machining performance.
  • Help maintain production efficiency and minimise machine downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
  • Complete relevant production and quality records.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve issues.
  • Follow company procedures and all relevant health & safety requirements..
The Candidate
  • Previous experience as a CNC Lathe Setter / CNC Turner / CNC Setter Operator.
  • Strong experience setting CNC turning machinery.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience setting tooling, offsets and work holding.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment for in‑process inspection.
  • A good understanding of machining processes, tooling and cutting conditions.
  • The ability to identify and resolve basic production and quality issues.
  • A strong focus on quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of health & safety within a manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
The Package

£18.00 - £20.00 per hour (£36,500- £40,500)

4 day working week
