Responsibilities

You’ll support a variety of communications activities, working alongside experienced professionals to help deliver engaging and effective communications across the Council. From drafting social media content, press releases and internal communications to supporting campaigns, events and digital content creation, no two days will be the same. You’ll also help monitor media coverage, support the production of newsletters and briefings, and build relationships with colleagues across the organisation to help showcase the positive work taking place across West Northamptonshire.

This role will give you the opportunity to gain practical experience across multiple communication channels while developing a broad understanding of how communications supports a large and complex organisation.

Qualifications

You’re enthusiastic, creative and keen to build a career in communications. You enjoy writing, have a good eye for detail and are confident communicating with a wide range of people. Whether through education, voluntary work, personal projects or previous experience, you have an interest in storytelling, social media and creating engaging content. You’re someone who enjoys learning, takes initiative and can work both independently and as part of a team.

Strong organisation skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to embrace new challenges will help you succeed in this role. Most importantly, you’ll share our passion for making a difference and bring energy, curiosity and creativity to everything you do, reflecting our THRIVE values and helping our communities to thrive.
