About The Role

What does great internal communication feel like? For us, it helps people understand where we’re going, why it matters and how they can play their part.

As our Internal Communications and Engagement Officer, you’ll help bring Alzheimer’s Society’s strategy, priorities and impact to life for our employees and volunteers. You’ll create clear, engaging and accessible communications across a range of channels, helping people feel informed, involved and able to have their say.

Can you spot the story behind an important update and turn it into something people can understand and connect with?

You’ll be part of our Internal Communications and Engagement team, helping to deliver communications, campaigns, events and engagement activity across the organisation. It’s a varied role for someone who enjoys creating content, working with people and finding better ways to connect colleagues with our purpose.

How do you make sure people feel included when you communicate? You’ll help us create communications that are accessible, relevant and responsive to different audiences, making sure people have the information they need and opportunities to have their say.

What you'll do

You’ll help plan and deliver internal communications that support our priorities and keep employees and volunteers informed and engaged.

You will:
  • Create, edit and publish content across our intranet, newsletters, online briefings and Viva Engage.
  • Support communication plans, campaigns, events and conferences.
  • Find and tell stories that celebrate our people, show our impact and bring our priorities to life.
  • Work with colleagues and subject matter experts to create clear, accessible and audience-focused communications.
  • Build positive relationships with stakeholders and provide practical communication support.
  • Use feedback and insight to understand what’s working and improve future communications.
  • Contribute to team planning, shared priorities and better ways of working.
About you

You’ll be a clear and thoughtful communicator who enjoys working with people, can manage competing priorities and knows when to ask for support.

Are you someone who enjoys bringing people together around a shared goal? Do you value listening to different perspectives, learning from others and sharing your own ideas?

You will bring:
  • The ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
  • A willingness to share knowledge and good practice, while being open to learning, feedback and new approaches.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, contribute to team planning and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Confidence using digital communication tools and content management systems, such as SharePoint, newsletter tools and Viva Engage, or the ability to learn new systems.
  • The ability to create clear, engaging and accessible content for different audiences.
  • An understanding of the power of storytelling and how to identify stories that help colleagues understand our purpose and the difference we make.
  • A commitment to inclusion and respect for the experiences and perspectives of employees, volunteers and people affected by dementia.

You don’t need to meet every requirement to apply. If you have relevant skills, experience or transferable strengths and can see yourself contributing to this role, we’d really like to hear from you.

We welcome people from different backgrounds, experiences and career journeys. We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels included, valued and able to contribute.

We want our recruitment process to be accessible to everyone. If you need any adjustments to apply or take part in the recruitment process, please let us know.

Interviews are provisionally scheduled to take place on the week commencing…
