Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you passionate about working with people to improve their wellbeing? Do you have a flair for hosting and engaging people? We are currently recruiting for an Engagement and Involvement Officer to join our brand-new LIFE (Living Independently For Everyone) team in Harrogate. This role is 17.5 hours per week. As the Engagement and Involvement Officer at our LIFE Harrogate service, you will be responsible for organising and delivering activities and workshops for the people accessing our service.

You will consult with the people we support to plan activities that support their goals, wellbeing, and are relevant to their interests. You will also be responsible for the management and recruitment of volunteers (both regular and ad-hoc), who will support with the activities programme.

What you will need:
  • Be empathetic and caring, showing understanding and respect to people experiencing difficult circumstances
  • Be confident in delivering workshops and activities, with excellent presentation skills and a certain flair that puts attendees at ease
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write convincingly, speak in an engaging manner, and build relationships
  • Be creative and curious, always thinking outside the box and bringing new ideas to the service
  • Be highly organised, with the ability to organise activities in advance and encourage attendance

Please note this role requires a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle which can be insured for business use.

Horton Housing is committed to safe and fair recruitment, safeguarding, and protecting the people that we support.

Positions here at Horton require a fully completed application form with any gaps explored back to the age of 18, as well as a right to work check, two references and a DBS check to identify and reject applicants who are unsuitable to work with children or vulnerable adults.

Please be aware that Horton Housing Association is not a sponsoring organisation. Therefore the successful applicant must already possess the right to work in the UK or be able to secure the right to work in the UK independently.

We expect interviews to take place in early September.
